Recently I've been seeing "inspiration walls" pop up on Pinterest and on blogs I read. The other day I ran across one again and as soon as I saw it I decided that I needed to turn the empty wall space into my very own inspiration wall.
I've seen many different approaches to inspiration walls. Some had items pinned onto big cork boards, some had items clipped onto lines of twine, and others had the items just stuck straight onto the wall (pinned, taped, nailed, etc.). The third is the kind that I really liked the look of and decided to use.
Here's the wall before. It's a horrible photo but it's the only one I could find (I had to crop it out of another picture). :P
Maybe the view is the reason I didn't like working at my desk...pink and brown box that doesn't go with my color scheme...random items...nothing goes together. :P
By the way, that display line (curtain wire from IKEA) I have above my desk was put up last spring or summer for the purpose of hanging things that inspired me or that I needed to remember. It builds into the inspiration wall well without even being part of the plan. :)
Here's what it looks like currently.
I say this is what it currently looks like because I plan to cover the wall up to the ceiling and possibly even more out on the sides. Right now I have some photos, a bunch of quotes that I love, some vintage clip art that I printed out (from The Graphics Fairy), and then some miscellaneous items that I like. :D
I really like that if I find something new I can switch out things and move things around for a fresh look (because everything is taped on thus no holes or commitment ;).
And you may have noticed that the pink box is gone and there's now a blue one. Ah, much better. I also picked up a white pencil holder (instead of the can I had my pens and pencils in before) and a matching letter sorter yesterday (both were on sale, score!). I'm going to be on the lookout for a white lamp to replace the black one...or maybe I'll paint the black one white...we'll see. :)
I love the way the wall looks now and I'm excited to add more to it! Part II will be pictures of the completed wall, so stay tuned!
Your room is such a lovely colour!
